Food insecurity is one of our main mission focuses at UMC of the Pines.
Feeding East Texas
Twice a year, UMC of the Pines hosts an event to help combat food insecurity in our community. Feeding East Texas is an opportunity for our church to package 12,000 nutritious meals that are shelf stable for 2 years. In four hours, we package and seal 2,000 bags of soy-enriched food for distribution to Newton Food Share and Southeast Texas Food Bank. It takes approximately 50 people to contribute their time and energy.
Newton Food Share
Join us on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 9-1, at 509 Main St. In Newton as we share God’s abundance with our neighbors.
